I had a great time at The Biz Mag's Fall Issue Release party held at The Spot on Olympic towards downtown, a very nice venue. Funny Lady Debra Wilson is the Cover Girl for the new issue and she's great! A nice crowd of young movers and shakers from Los Angeles's arts and business scene on hand having a good time!

Sexy Stuff... Merecedes de Acosta and Greta Garbo in "Garbo's Cuban Lover" |

I thoroughly loved this well written, well acted play about the private life of screen legend Greta Garbo and writer Mercedes de Acosta. Odalys Nanin, the play's talented star, writer and co-director says "Garbo's Cuban Lover is a fictional story. It's my creative interpretation of the Garbo-Acosta relationship, the one I have created in my mind..." With that said this creation is very, very interesting, entertaining, moving, poignant and very sexy . By all accouts feisty Mercedes de Acosta had the courage to live her life the way she wanted to when being a lesbian was not the coolest thing in town. Ms. Nanin brings a great deal of vitality, passion and humanity to her role - she's smitten by beautiful moody screen queen Garbo, wonderfully played by Lina Hall (who is Swedish like Garbo) who according to the play did not always play fair. The ladies were involved on and off for about 30 years with Garbo severing their friendship for good in 1960 when de Acosta wrote her life story. Sexy screen legend Marlene Dietrich fits into the equation too- she's well played by Vera Petrechenka who makes a sultry memorable entrance that would make Marlene proud. Rounnding out the terrific cast is Erin Holt as Isadora Duncan and Isabela, John Nagle as Irving Thalberg, Editor and Butler, Lisa Merkin as Salka Viertel , Ginger Pennington as Poppy Kirk and Guest and Ernesto Mijares as Father's Voice. Speaking of screen legend Marlene Dietrich.... The 50th Anniversary of Stanley Kramer's film classic "Judgement at Nuremburg" will be October 11th, 7:30pm at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater. Larry King will be hosting and the onstage discussion will feature Oscar winning actor Maximillan Schell, Karen Sharpe-Kramer and Rabbi Marvin Hier, dean and founder of the Simon Wiesenthal Center. For tickets for this much anticipated event please call the Academy at 310-247-3000 ...HH(:
Speaking of Stanley Kramer... this Sunday, October 2nd at 6:30pm Katharine Houghton, the niece of screen legend Katharine Hepburn will appear in person for another Kramer classic, "Guess Who's Coming To Dinner?" at the Egyptian with author James Curtis who will be signing his new book "Spencer Tracy - A Biography". After the screening of the Stanley Kramer classic -Stanley Kramer is the late father of my friend Kat Kramer and late husband of my friend Karen Sharpe Kramer - Ms. Houghton will do a Q&A about the film and her legendary aunt Katharine Hepburn, "Aunt Kate" as we call her. As you know she plays Hepburn's daughter in the film which coincidemtally was the idea of Karen-Sharpe Kramer who was present for alot of the filming. Kat is Katharine Hepburn's God Daughter and namesake. If you can't make it to the event contact my friends at Larry Edmund's Bookshop to buy a copy
