I attended opening nite of the Pacific Opera Project production of W.A. Mozart's "Cosi Fan Tutte" directed by Josh Shaw and loved it! The opera opens the new Porticoes Theater in Pasadena. Beautiful, strong voices & performances, beautiful sets, beautiful costumes & beautiful music conducted by Stephen Carr... What a great production, cast & chamber orchestra! "Cosi Fan Tutte" is presented in Italian with subtitles and has been reset from 1790 Italy to America at the time of the Civil War drawing some inspiration from a certain 1939 movie about the Antebellum South. Visit www.pacificoperaproject.com for more information about this very enjoyable production.... HH(:

Richard Chamberlain, Heather Tom, Julia Duffy & cast in "The Heiress". Photo: Jim Cox |
"The Heiress" directed by Damaso Rodriguez at Pasadena Playhouse is great and if you haven't seen it yet it runs for one more week. The play is set in Washington Square, New York in 1850 and is a must see. Heather Tom is amazing as Catherine Sloper - I think she gives the finest performance of the year on stage by an actress. Richard Chamberlain plays her cold, practical, well meaning father Dr. Austin Sloper with such finesse that he should win an award for his portrayal of the cruelest father ever on stage. Kudos to the entire cast for great performances... Julia Duffy, Gigi Bermingham, Steve Coombs, Chris Reinacher, Elizabeth Tobias, Anneliese Van Der Pol & Jill Van Veler. Great costumes & scenic design by Leah Piehl and John Iacovelli respectively. For more information visit www.pasadenaplayhouse.org ...HH(:
