Last month I spotted the cool photo above  of my  pal Patti Negri on Facebook. I know Patti  from her good work with the Hollywood Arts Council.   I love noir films & I loved the look of the photo so I asked her what the backstory on the photo was.  "It's called "Deadline Knows" she shared...."but I'm not allowed to talk about it yet.... ".  She added
"Carrie Certa the director can tell you what the project is all about".  Patti got Carrie in touch with me & I learned that "Deadline Knows" was made specifically for Deadline Hollywood's  Nikki Finke as a tribute by Carrie Certa & company.  Carrie Certa is a talented and hardworking filmmaker.  Nikki Finke as most people know is the lady who knows just about everything that's happening in Hollywood, often  before Hollywood knows it and Carrie Certa is a HUGE fan.  "Deadline Knows" is a charming very well made film short shot noir style and I really liked it... it has  great productions values and humor.  I hope Nikki Fink enjoys it and shares it with her huge audience which would help those involved with the film....    The  entertaining short was sent to Ms. Fink today.  Break a leg everyone.  For more info visit www.ursaproductions.com  HH(:

I recently attended the 6th annual Easter Brunch at Duke's in Malibu hosted by Safety Harbor Kids -  www.SafetyHarborKids.org  - Safety Harbor Kids "SHK" was founded in 2007 for the purpose of enriching the lives of orphans, foster & homeless children through education in the areas of college, career and the arts.  SHK was founded by John Williams - a parentless child himself.  Saturday's Easter brunch was also known as 6th annual Etiquette & Manners event.  The organization has helped 2,000 orphans, foster and homeless children overcome their fears, express themselves thru art & music & learning they can accomplish their goals and dreams.  350 children a year are provided with college, career, music, art & mentor programs.  For more information and/or  to donate please call 800-277-0497 or email petrie@safetyharborkids.org -  It was a pleasure to cover this event - the people were great - the cause is great and the food sponsored by Duke's was great too....  HH(:

USC film student Alan Takagi (with wife Nana)  was stationed in  Iraq in 2003 for 3 months when Arnold Schwarzenegger paid a surprise visit to the troops on  a very hot July 4th.  The visit was a real morale booster & soldiers received dvd's of Terminator Rise of the Machines weeks before the film's theatrical release. . "I know you guys can't get to the movies so I've brought my latest to you".    

Raffaella De Laurentiis & Arnold Schwarzenegger speak  - Arnold  starred in  Conan the Barbarian in 1982  which propelled him to movie stardom. The movie was produced by Ms. De Laurentiis

Paying Tribute: Moderator Allesandro Ago, Martha De Laurentiis, Raffaella De Laurentiis, Michael Mann, Jonathon Mostow & Arnold Schwarzenegger....   Late, great movie producer Dino De Laurentiis was honored at USC.  The award winning producer died November 10th 2010 at his Beverly Hills home at the age of 91.  "I am a man of 3 C's...  Cervello, Cuore & Coglioni".  Longtime De Laurentiis collaborator Mary J. Sweeney was honored with a Dino & Martha De Laurentiis USC professor position at the panel tribute which was expertly hosted & produced by Allesandro Ago
